Lafayette is growing south towards Delcambre. The Delcambre Canal provides the closest, easiest boating access to the Gulf of Mexico.

Shrimping is Delcambre's heritage. The economics of shrimping is changing. The waterfront must adapt to promote commerce that attracts customers to Delcambre's port.

These proposals all enhance the waterfront to create marinas, shopping areas, residential developments, all designed to bring customers to the shrimpers.
